Our Transportation Policy and Programs Branch is seeking a proactive and well-organized Policy Analyst with a focus on research and policy analysis. This position will identify and analyze trends and emerging issues that have implications for the transportation sector and advise on proposed policy solutions to strengthen the effectiveness of Saskatchewan’s transportation networks and corridors.
Reporting to the Manager of Policy, the successful candidate will have:
- The ability to analyze trends and issues, identify and develop options and solutions, and make policy recommendations in order to meet ministry goals;
- The ability to gather and analyze data and information to inform evidence-based policy development and strategic decision-making;
- Written communication skills necessary to draft policy documents, reports, correspondence, cabinet documents, and briefing materials, and explain complex matters to a variety of audiences;
- The ability to build and develop relationships with other ministries, agencies or stakeholder groups, and work collaboratively on a team;
- The ability to accurately reference and interpret acts, regulations, policies, and guidelines;
- The ability to manage and complete multiple projects to high quality standards, taking into consideration conflicting and changing priorities and/or changing deadlines; and
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan's multi-modal transportation systems and related transportation issues.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a graduate degree in economics, public administration, public policy, business administration, environmental studies, or a related discipline.
